Dr. Kirk Langstrom is Man-Bat, a tragic figure from DC Comics.
Langstrom, a zoologist specializing in bats, developed a serum hoping to grant humans sonar abilities. In a misguided attempt to combat his own impending deafness, he tested the serum on himself.
The experiment transformed him into a monstrous bat-like creature. While possessing enhanced strength, agility, and echolocation, Langstrom lost his human intellect in this form, becoming a dangerous threat. Man-Bat first appeared in *Detective Comics* #400 (1970).
He occasionally vacillates between monster and man. At times, he seeks a cure for his condition. Other times, he struggles to control the animalistic instincts of the Man-Bat.
